Behind the scenes!

Our office was abuzz this week with celebrities! While NKPR is obviously a great place to hang out for any reason :) the stars came in to shoot public service announcements for At My Best. Here they are in action:

Celebrity chef Anthony Sedlak practicing his lines to perfection. (If anyone knows about healthy eating, it's him!)

Tessa Bonhomme, member of the Canadian Women's Gold Medal Winning National Hockey Team, proves that she's a pro on the ice and in front of the camera.

Jennifer Botterill, Tessa's teammate (and a three-time Olympic gold medallist!), talks about the importance of children's health while the director looks on.

Tracy Moore, host of CityLine, was kind enough to let us film in her office at Citytv! (That's Katy holding up the cue cards.)

Thanks to everyone who took part in the shoot!

TV at its best!

I've talked about At My Best before on this blog so you know how much I love this program! It was covered by CHCH News on Wednesday January 5:

At My Best (www.atmybest.ca) is a national school-based children's wellness program developed by AstraZeneca Canada and Physical and Health Education Canada that inspires and motivates children to make healthy choices. A CHCH News reporter, Maria Hayes, came out to St. Michael Catholic Elementary School in Hamilton to see the At My Best program in action. She interviewed Rose Crowther from the program's founding partner AstraZeneca Canada; Carol Scaini, part of At My Best's writing team; Karen Moyer, vice principal of the school, as well as a number of grade one students. The students performed At My Best's "ABC Dance" and "Alphabet Motion." So adorable and so inspiring, don't you think?

Comfort food that's good for me?

This time of year, I'm drawn to comfort foods, things that make me think warm thoughts! Too often, that means lunches and dinners that are less than healthy. I was talking about this the other day -- okay maybe I was complaining just a bit -- then one of my staff reminded me about all the great recipe ideas that we have around the office thanks to At My Best.

At My Best is a health and wellness program for children developed by AstraZeneca Canada and Physical & Health Education Canada. But they have tons of ideas that adults can use, too, like healthy recipes that are perfect for this time of year. Here's one that I'm going to try: Fruit and Nut Couscous with Warm Chicken and Lemon-Cinnamon Dressing. It's from celebrity chef Anthony Sedlak and it only takes 10 minutes to make! For the recipe, just click here.

If you try it, tweet me about it. And if you have any other suggestions for quick and easy fall recipes, tweet me about those, too!
